Job Description

As a National Field Sales Advisor you will be the face of multiple household brands in retail environments across the Midlands and wider UK when needed. This role is primarily field-based: you will spend most working days visiting stores, meeting store managers and sales teams, delivering on-shelf availability, merchandising, and running product training sessions for retail staff. You will manage and grow relationships with both independent retailers and larger chain accounts, ensuring that agreed ranges are stocked correctly and promotions are activated effectively.

Your day-to-day targets will include a number of customer visits per day, implementation of promotional activity and execution of brand launches at point of sale. You’ll be accountable for increasing sales volume, improving market share within your ground and protecting profitability. Success in this role will require excellent planning to map daily store visits, resolve out-of-stock situations quickly, and identify opportunities to introduce new lines or upsell existing products. The ability to build rapport with retail staff, coach on product ranges and price positioning, and influence ordering behaviour will be central to performance.

This role also involves a measured amount of overnight travel around the UK — you will be expected to stay away from home on a regular basis to support national rollouts or cover key accounts. The company places strong emphasis on wellbeing and development: it is recognised for internal progression (80% of managerial vacancies are filled from within) and long employee tenure. Performance is rewarded through an annual company bonus (up to 10% of salary), a sales incentive scheme (up to £5,400 per year) and other monetary and non-monetary benefits. You’ll be issued a hybrid company car and fuel card to support travel demands, and receive allowances such as a daily food budget and additional annual benefits worth several hundred pounds.

If you enjoy a mobile working style, thrive on customer interaction, and want to represent recognisable consumer brands, this role offers a compelling combination of challenge, autonomy and reward. Clear KPIs, structured support and ongoing training make it an ideal step for sales professionals aiming for career progression into senior account management and leadership roles within a global business.

Eligibility & How to Apply

To be considered for this National Field Sales Advisor role you must meet several practical and behavioural criteria. Practically, you need a valid UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points and the willingness to spend significant time travelling and staying away from home as required by the business. Candidates must be comfortable navigating multiple store visits daily, managing time efficiently and adapting to changing retail schedules. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential—Excel skills are particularly valuable for sales reporting, territory planning and monitoring KPIs.

Behaviourally, successful applicants will demonstrate resilience under daily targets, strong planning skills, and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with store teams and regional account managers. You should be confident presenting training to store staff, able to influence merchandising and stock decisions, and committed to visiting a targeted number of customer locations every day. Self-motivation, excellent communication and a track record of achieving sales goals will make you stand out.

How to apply — step by step:

  1. Prepare your CV: Tailor your CV to highlight retail sales experience, account management achievements, territory results, and examples of brand activation or merchandising success.
  2. Write a short cover statement: In 150–300 words explain why you want a field sales role, how you manage travel and time on the road, and a recent example where you grew sales or fixed availability issues.
  3. Visit the employer application page: Click the “Apply Now” link below to open the official application portal. Ensure you have scanned ID and licence details ready if requested.
  4. Complete the online form: Fill in personal details, attach your CV and cover statement, and answer any brief screening questions honestly—these often cover travel availability and driving history.
  5. Assessment & interview: If shortlisted, you may be invited to a video or face-to-face interview and asked to complete a short practical exercise or presentation demonstrating your approach to a route plan or a store visit. Be prepared to discuss past KPI achievement and examples of retailer relationship building.

Tips for success: quantify your sales impact (e.g., increased category sales by X%), be specific about travel flexibility and overnight availability, and show examples of training or coaching retail staff. Ensure your references can speak to your reliability and client-facing skills. The employer values internal progression, so demonstrate commitment to career growth and willingness to learn.
